What Is A Long-Term Care Home (LTC)?

Understanding and searching for long-term care can be difficult and emotional. Whether you're looking for a home for your loved one or for yourself, it can often be met with guilt, second-guessing, and frustration. At Tea & Toast, we get the pain and confusion that comes with this decision and we are here to help.

Also known as “nursing homes,” LTC homes are subsidized residential homes that typically provide higher levels of personal care and support than what may be provided in a retirement home. These types of homes are for people who need 24-hour nursing care and supervision within a secure setting. In Ontario, all admissions to long-term care homes are coordinated through Home and Community Care Support Services.
